eGuard Alert Service

The eGuard Alert Service allows for the delivery of device level alerts to a single email address destination without the need for configuring an SMTP mail server. This service may be useful in situations where there is no access to an external email server due to firewall settings on the local network. 

 

Information

  • An eGauge.net account is required to use this feature. Login to your account on egauge.net before beginning, or register a new account by visiting: egauge.net/account/register
 

 

Enabling the eGuard Alert Service

  1. From the eGauge meter interface, access the Alerts Setup by choosing 'Setup → Alerts' from the main menu.
     

 

  1.  Click on the Alert Delivery section and enable the option Report alerts to an external server and set Report alerts to eGuard Alert Service. Set the Min. alert priority to report to the minimum level that you would like to receive alerts for. User defined and system alerts with a lower priority will not be reported.
     

 

3. When you click Save, you will be prompted to connect to the eGuard Alert Service. Click Connect to continue.

 

You'll be redirected to eGauge.net.  Click Register for Alerts to register with the specified account.  The email address associated with the eGauge.net account specified will be the delivery destination for device alerts.

 

Viewing meter alerts in eGuard

To view alerts, log into eGauge.net with your account and click on your username in the upper right corner of the page. Choose Account Settings from the dropdown.

Under the section titled Device Alerts You will see a list of devices that have the eGuard Alert service enabled.  Click the device name to view alerts that have triggered for that device.

Unsubscribing 

To unsubscribe a device from the eGuard Alert Service, access the Alert setup page by choosing Setup → Alerts from the main menu.  Under the Alert Delivery section, disable the 'Report alerts to an external server' option and save your changes. 

to unsubscribe, this option should be disabled.

You'll also need to unsubscribe the device from the Alert Service in your eGuard account.  Log into your eGauge.net account.  Choose Account Settings from the website user account menu.

In the Device Alerts section, click on the meter name you want to unsubscribe and click on the Unsubscribe button.
